Selling handmade whimsical and folk art Corn Shuck Dolls since 1975. I use natural dried corn shucks that I dye by hand. Then dampen the shucks to make them pliable, and tie them into figures representing my interpretations of traditional, folk, mythical and contemporary art dolls. Seasonal, spiritual or historical, a corn shuck doll is a treasure for any occasion and can enhance your living and working space with its essence. Come in and browse! After dampening, the shucks are rolled into a head. Every corn shuck doll starts with the head! -
Sleeves are tied on the arms and then tied to the neck of the doll; strips of corn shucks are added for the bodice. -
After the blank doll is complete, the skirt is tied with twine until it dries. Embellishments are added when dry. -
Made in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains in East Tennessee. -
